The Sky OEM router is fine for the vast majority of cases, but if you want more functionality, better signal strength, or advanced features like VPN support or parental controls, you’re going to want to use a TP-Link router with Sky fibre.
Jun 01, 2017 · So my question is, what current routers are compatible with Sky Fibre? Reading independent reviews online, everyone seems to think the new Sky Q router is pretty solid. Any thoughts on this? Also, do I need a Sky Q subscription or anything to use this router, as am simply on the basic Sky HD / Fibre Unlimited package with phone. The older router had a different ssid and password for the wifi. So it looks for it instead of your new router. A work around is also to go into the routers settings and changed the SSID and password to the old SSID and password, from the new one that is being broadcast. The common frequency bands are 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. Newer model wireless routers operate with the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands broadcasting simultaneously. In order for SkyBell HD to connect to these routers, the bands must be split to allow the two to broadcast on separate networks. We refer to this process as router configuration. You can use any router with an ADSL2+ modem in it but you will need to extract your User Name and Password from the old one and you will be breaking Sky's Ts & Cs.
